SnugFleece
Original and SnugFleece II Wool Mattress Pads
Competitors
do not stand up to the "hands-on" quality and craftsmanship
of SnugFleece Mattress Covers. We are not mass-produced. The Original
and SnugFleece II are constructed with our specialized, one-of-a-kind
equipment, one row at a time. This process, unique to SnugFleece,
secures the wool in its natural upright position to cotton backing.
This allows the recoil properties of this unique fiber to remain
intact. In this state, the natural crimp of the wool continually
tries to assert itself. A SnugFleece cover remains lofty and resistant
to compression, unlike most competitors. We match or exceed our
competition in wool density and pile height. The SnugFleece Original
and SnugFleece II are simply the most superior virgin wool mattress
covers in the industry!

Why
Buy Wool Bedding?
1)
Sleep Comfort: Cradles pressure points with cushioning support for
relaxation and pain relief
Fleece Wool
for Ultimate Sleep Comfort. Our deep pile, virgin wool provides
supreme relaxation because the crimp of the fiber is literally grown
from the follicle of the sheep. These naturally crimped fibers are
springy to the touch and have a built-in resilience that resists
body impressions. SnugFleece and SnugSoft products are designed
for total comfort that you simply cannot get from synthetics. The
cushioning support of wool fibers cradle your every move, distributing
your body weight evenly. Pressure on hips, shoulders and heels is
relieved resulting in uninterrupted, quality sleep. Testimonials
report relief from symptoms of arthritis and rheumatism.

2)
Natural Thermostat
Wool has an
inherent ability to act as a natural thermostat. It is unique in
the way it handles temperature and moisture. (See Summer/Winter
below.)
top
3)
In Summer You Snooze Cool
When asleep,
the body temperature mechanism begins to shut down. Water vapor
is lost through the pores of the skin. A large volume of moisture
can accumulate next to the skin and cause a sticky, clammy feeling,
especially in humid climates. Sleeping on wool controls this phenomenon.
Porous and permeable, tiny holes in the outside layer of wool allows
moisture to pass through it. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its weight
in moisture and still feel dry. Because of this wicking ability,
moisture is drawn into the wool fiber (great for those with night
sweats or in menopause.) Body heat evaporates the moisture, and
then it is released back into the atmosphere. Sheets remain cool
and dry providing a crisp, comfortable surface in hot, muggy summer
months. This allows for more comfortable, relaxed sleep. One experiences
less tossing and turning.

4)
In Winter You Doze Cozy
Wool is a natural
insulator. The multi-dimensional fibers repel each other creating
countless air pockets that trap body heat keeping one's body temperature
regulated. The air spaces between the wool fibers allow this warm
air to circulate next to the body providing warmth on the coldest
nights. A consistent body temperature keeps one from tossing and
turning resulting in deeper more restful sleep. People look forward
to going to bed when they sleep on a wool cover.

5)
All Natural
We use 100%
American virgin wool. American wool has a much higher degree of
crimp for a given diameter of fiber than its foreign competitors.
Therefore, American wool has a superior "springiness."
The natural loft of American wool will add to the life of your SnugFleece.
Mother Nature thought of everything regarding function and purpose
of the unique wool fiber. Man remains utterly baffled in efforts
to reproduce a fiber that matches wool's performance and characteristics.
Besides using this 100% natural wool fiber, a pure, 232-thread count
cotton in used for the backing on the Original and SnugFleece II.

6)
Non-Allergenic and Biodegradable
The warm, humid
condition that presents around a perspiring sleeper is the perfect
breeding ground for microorganisms that can live in bedding. SnugFleece
wool is sanitized with Ultra-Fresh for complete protection from
microbial growth. Ultra-Fresh is a fabric treatment registered and
EPA approved for domestic fabrics. It is an anti-microbial that
fights against mold and mildew. It is in many fabrics on the market
today such as: feather and down bedding, fleecewear, foam mattresses,
mattress ticking, pillow fill, etc. It offers relief for allergy
sufferers since mold and mildew cause allergies to act up. Ultra-Fresh
preserves hygienic freshness and repels all wool-eating insects.
It's actually locked in the fiber during blending to withstand dry
cleaning and washing. It will last the life of the cover. This guards
against premature deterioration caused by dust, mold and mildew.
In fact, it prevents the actual causes of odors. There is also evidence
that Ultra-Fresh kills dust mites.

7)
Natural Deodorizer
Lanolin is a
natural deodorizer, which prevents wool from absorbing odors.

8)
Infant Care
Studies show
wool is soothing and swaddling for babies resulting in reduced stress
and more quality sleep. Metabolic activity of babies sleeping on
wool is decreased, which burns fewer calories, resulting in faster
weight gain.* Because wool repels dust, it makes a cleaner environment
for baby at sleep or at play. An additional cover makes a great
play-pad for traveling or when baby is on the floor or in the playpen.
SnugSoft crib mattress covers are sanitized with Ultra-Fresh and
can go in the washer and dryer. In addition to providing comfort
to the child, they protect the mattress. Health care professionals
advise that infants be placed on their back or side when put to
bed. SnugFleece agrees that babies who cannot yet roll over should
be kept off their abdomens when placed to sleep on a wool cover.
SnugFleece recommends a sheet be placed over all wool mattress covers.

9)
Flame Resistant Safe Sleeping Environment
Wool is the
only natural fiber that naturally resists flaming because of its
high nitrogen and moisture content. Wool will normally self-extinguish
when the flame source is removed. It does not melt or burst into
flames. SnugFleece passes all US Government flammability tests.

Care and Cleaning for SnugFleece Original and SnugFleece II Wool
Mattress Pads
Wool is hard
to penetrate. The cells of the fiber overlap each other like shingles
on a roof. Water and soil seem to roll right off. Like your blankets,
wool mattress covers do not require frequent cleaning. To clean
or spot clean, use a type of wool foam cleaner (e.g. Woolite upholstery
and rug cleaner), according to the directions on the container.
When necessary, your SnugFleece mattress cover may be professionally
dry-cleaned using perchloroethylene (PERC) solvent. Best results
are obtained with the PERC solution.
Occasional vacuuming
and airing is recommended. Airing can be easily done by occasionally
leaving the sheets off your SnugFleece mattress cover during the
day. This will allow the wool fibers to breathe and rejuvenate.
It can also be placed on a deck rail or clothesline, out of direct
sunlight. Periodically, when changing linens, fluff up the wool
by vacuuming or raking with your fingers or a wire brush.
If your new
SnugFleece cover is being used on a waterbed, do not turn off your
heater. Due to body heat, condensation will form on the waterbed
bladder, if the bed water is cold, causing your wool cover to stain
and mildew. This will eventually delaminate the glue that bonds
the wool to the cotton backing voiding all manufacturing warranties.
To prevent this from happening make sure the water in the bed bladder
is warmer than the room temperature.
At SnugFleece
Woolens, we take pride in our workmanship and use only the finest
materials during the manufacturing of our wool products. 100% American
virgin wool bound to a two hundred and thirty two thread count cotton
backing make sleeping heavenly! Your SnugFleece Wool Mattress Cover
will give you many years of comfort with minimal care.
