| A
comforter, also called a duvet (pronounced doo-vay) in Canada and
Britain, is a soft quilt traditionally filled with down or feathers
but nowadays also can be filled with silk or polyester. Down comforters
remain the most popular as they offer a high degree of warmth and
insulation relative to their weight. Silk filled comforters can
be exceptionally comfortable, but they don't offer the high
warmth ability or fluffiness of the best quality goose down comforters.
So a silk comforter may be ideal for moderate or mild climates and
temperatures. For the allergy sensitive, a down alternative comforter
can be suitable although the poly fibers are not as breathable as
natural fills such as down or silk. No matter the type of duvet
you choose, always use your comforters inside a duvet cover. Duvet
covers surround & protect comforters, much like how pillow cases
enhance pillows, and must be used to avoid voiding a manufacturer
warranty. Available in a wide selection, they can be changed easily
to match your style or mood. Whatever your climate or room temperature,
we have a comforter to match your desired warmth level, from ultra
light to light to medium to alpine/winter warmth. |
